Tape Echo is an authentic emulation of the Echoplex EP3 tape delay, initially released in 1969. They have meticulously captured all the nuanced analog characteristics of the original unit. This includes the moderate headroom Class A electronics and the unique behaviors of magnetic tape.
It offers a wide range of controls, including input level, delay time with BPM sync option, and features such as wow and flutter, tape wear, and more. Unlike the hardware unit, it features a stereo mode with two independent delay lines, among other enhancements.
On the other side, Stardust 201 is an emulation of the legendary Roland Space Echo. The developers accurately modeled the original unit and recreated the limited fidelity and stability of audio tape.
Stardust 201 offers features from both the RE-201 and RE-301 Space Echo units, but also new additions, including a 4x-extended “wide mode” delay time range, modulation, and more. You can choose from different user-selected color themes (black, green, etc.).
