Cubic Audio Ascension
Ascension is a multi-engine Synthesizer plugin for macOS and Windows, offering both rompler and synthesis functionalities.
The core consists of four multimode oscillators, which can use sampled ROM from classic analog and digital synths, subtractive synthesis with FM, wavetable, or single-cycle waves. It ships with 6GB of sample-based content and 1300 pre-installed waveforms, says Cubic Audio.
Draw or import your own waveforms in Ascension’s waveform editor. With the latest update, 1.6, you can also create vector curves for both oscillator waveforms and LFOs.
Then, it offers a multimode filter module with cutoff, resonance, and drive controls. It has two fixed (amp/filter) and four auxiliary envelopes on the modulation side. Plus, it has two LFOs with customizable waveforms.
All this is programmable in a flexible modulation matrix with 32 target destinations. Besides the envelopes, and LFOs, you get the usual functions like mod wheel, aftertouch, velocity, and more.
To refine your sounds, Cubic Audio Ascension hosts a drag-n-drop multi-FX processor with six shapeable algorithms: distortion, chorus, phaser, EQ, delay, and reverb.
A highlight of the Ascension is its advanced arpeggiator with the built-in MIDI Player mode. It ships with thousands of royalty-free MIDI loops that you can audition in the synth and drag and drop straight to your DAW’s timeline.
Besides this, it comes with a resizable UI, skin modification options, and a preset manager with over 1700 ready-to-use presets.
Cubic Audio Ascension is available now for $4.90 instead of $49.90. It runs as a VST3 and AU plugin on macOS (native Apple Silicon + Intel) and Windows.
